Ground Conditions

Stiff and wet London clay at depth with ignored/made ground above.

Solution

Bored Sectional Flight Auger (SFA) mini piles installed to support a ground floor slab to canter the weight of a steel bank vault that is to be installed for a new bank branch service building.

The proposed method for the installation of the piles will be Sectional flight auger (SFA) using a Super Kitten Mini Piling Rig. Pile diameters for this project are 300mm, pile depths are 9.0m. In the event of practical boring refusal on Claystone / cobbles prior to this depth the borehole spoil will be noted and the Central Piling’s technical department will be contacted for a reappraisal of the capacity. Reinforcement for the piles will generally be 4H16x9m in a H8 helical with 150 pitch. Site mix grout is to be C28/35 DC-2 with an S4 slump class, using OPC and sharp Sand.
